I had a truly beautiful moment of connection today with another friend who is a recovered addict. We both have long term sobriety and we both chase after the spiritual solution to our addict dilemma like we chased after the drug. I was truly inspired after leaving the conversation and returning home.
I get asked on a regular basis for help from families, friends, churches, academic institutions, and acquaintances that are being torn apart because of the illness. I’ve been happy to assist as best I can. The hard part is that the illness defies science. The illness defies logic. The illness ruins the vessel it lives in and it leaves trauma and terror everywhere it goes. Addiction continues to work in addicts who are completely abstinent from using.
